Nostalgia Drags Meremere

The Club champs & Nostalgia Drags were held in perfect weather with a great line up of events the weekend ran smoothly and everyone had a great time. This year with NZHRA celebrating its 50th Birthday it is great to see the effort and enthusiasm is still going strong at this level of racing.

The Club champs got off to a quick start with a steady procession of cars running through their heats and on to their respective finals. Congratulations to Te Awamutu for taking out the Club Champs.

The lunch break saw the Herb Morgan Tyres T-Bucket Challenge take to the strip in a parade of Henry’s finest tin creations.

The Trans Tasman Challenge was set to be a typical battle with the Aussies. … Saturday nights Crackelfest was a teeth chattering spectacle with flaming blowers rumbling from the strip & The Live band kept many rocking the night away.

The Aussie front Engine Dragsters brought in a lot of interest with plenty of spectators taking in a close look. Along with Karl Boniface’s Castrol funny car.

Kyte Family FED

It was a pleasure to have hosted the Kyte Family for the preceding Beach Hop and the Nostalgia Drags. Hayden dialed a 9.75 and ran a 9.72 @ 136MPH, giving the win to Mark Vincent, unfortunately putting him out of the Trans-Tasman challenge at the first round. The fun however didn’t stop, running many times over the weekend, improving with every run. 9.83 @ 135.4 MPH, 9.73 @ 135.9 MPH & 9.90 @ 134.9 MPH. A great effort guys and thanks for traveling all this way, Now the FED has been further then the home tracks & the shed.

Thanks to Deno and his amazing crew for an awsome weekend.
