What more could you need hot summer sun, sand, steel, shining chrome, the sound of V8 engines and the beat of the Retro Rockets Rock 'N' Roll.
It all came together in the seaside town of Whangamata. First the tantalizing show of very nice rides, displayed to perfection. The War Memorial Hall was filled with a dozen Roadsters laid out in all their splendour along with the Beach Hop Prizes for 2011.
On January 1st 2011 the rumble of V8 engines could be heard rolling into town to gather at the First Classic Car & Hot Rod Show for the year.
Close to 150 cars and bikes parked up between the Whangamata Club and the War Memorial Hall. The crowd grew throughout the day and many stopped to enjoy the offering of classic & custom cars, the vintage bikes and to share a cold one or two and chill to the sound of the Retro Rockets.
